Candles and red suits and bells and all sorts of other strange things relate to your holidays. I think I might...actually be getting used to this. Not that it's a terrible thing, mind you, but it's interesting. Other than...[A pause as she thinks of the word] Halloween, I haven't yet seen the Admiral put so much effort into a season.

It's nice that some of you get a taste of home. Even if that is...well, nevermind.

[Private to Alex]

Let's go on that tour I promised. Meet me on deck in an hour. And dress warmly.
thebestnose: (neutral- doubt is good)
You Previous and your...holidays. Is there anything that you don't celebrate? Are there months that pass when you don't have to force your beliefs on the rest of us? [There's an annoyed little sigh.] And before you start, I know that it's the Admiral and that most of you don't want this to happen. But this does get old. [There's the sound of ringing bells and an "oomph."]

And bells in the hallway. Bells.

Why?

[Private to Caesares]

I know that you had nothing to do with it.

[Private to George]

Would you mind going on a walk with me?
thebestnose: (neutral- leave nothing out)
[Jane's in her Colour Garden. It's a small area in a glass enclosure, with two rows of brightly coloured flowers. So brightly coloured that it would give most people a headache to look at. For this reason, she keeps the camera away from the flowers, though, as she's tending to them, there is an occasional glimpse of one or two.]

They didn't take any damage from...anything that happened, thankfully. Nothing in here seemed to be touched. And not just before the Admiral restored everything. Unless I missed something. [She shrugs and there's a flash of bright pink as she brushes a bit of dirt from the petals of a flower.]

I am grateful that it's all back to normal. Or...relative normal, since that's not exactly a term that we can use lightly around here.

Please don't tell me all holidays are that dangerous.

[Private to Una]

Did I ever give you my list?
thebestnose: (annoyed- have you done anything worthy?)
I've noticed the Admiral likes to celebrate holidays. But what does that actually mean for you? We might as well talk about something other than the fact that this place is turning brown and there are ghosts or pookas or whatever you want to call them. At least the colour garden hasn't wilted.

I've not learned much about this holiday, this Halloween, other than sweets and frights are involved. Not exactly the most informational, you realise.

But I don't really care much about this holiday now. If it involves all of this then I'm not sure I want to know the rest. Just tell me that not all of your Previous holidays are like this.

Also, does anyone know Morse code?
thebestnose: (upset- cozy ignorance)
[Jane sounds winded, but you can still hear the anger shaking her words.]

My fucking inmate....he... [WHOOPS. She manages to switch the filter.]

[Warden Filter]

I need help. Edward Sexby was the one who killed Cissie and I...can't handle him on my own right now. I do not want him killed if it's possible. Just...restrained or at least talked down. This isn't some sort of...hunting mission or revenge session. I need help, not people to play the fucking individualist hero.

[OOC: Just trying to keep the plot a'moving guys so that we can keep things nice and tidy and in order. Don't feel rushed! I'm going to bed shortly, but I'll respond to posts until then. If your character asks for details, they might have to wait a smidge bit until I get details! Also...notifs are crap. :c]

I'm starting to notice an imbalance when it comes to education. Not that I feel there was a lack in my own- after all, what more can they teach you when they don't know anything themselves- but that there is an emphasis on education in other places that there isn't where I am.

But is that a standard? Does everyone have...universities and other kinds of ways to extend your education?

And what do you do? More lectures from people who know barely more than you do? Or is it something else?

Apart We Are Together. We, that is, the people at home, see it everywhere. We know it. It's the first phrase on our minds when we think about our Collective.

It took me ages to actually realise what that could even mean. Well, it took me ages to even think I needed to realise what it meant. It was just a vague concept, something I didn't really have to think about. Not that thinking about anything is really encouraged.

But we're not really together, are we? It's a Collective that's based on sustainability, rather than...well, quality. That's not the way it has to be, though, does it? Get rid of- [Pause.] Hm. Nevermind.

So my question is...what happens to your Extras? Your...unlicensed supernumeraries. In your Previous worlds? The people who might not be seen as Useful or who are outside of the regular system? Er...maybe damaged. Blind. Elderly. Not Ruleful.

[Private to Chloe]

Are you alright? I think we need to talk about the port. Or at least pretend like we are and really just talk about something else.

[[OOC: You can consider this the end of my not!hiatus. I can manage time! VICTORY!]]

I think that...whatever it was called...left me with more questions than answers. Though I never will determine why people wore hats like Indy.

But I did some looking and I found most of the answers. Only one remained. Why is a war between the same people in the same place called a 'Civil War?' It doesn't seem particularly civil to me. But, I suppose no war would be civil.

War isn't the only way to start a change, is it?

[Private to the Admiral]

Could we have a colour garden? Just a small patch of flowers in different colours would be sufficient. Univisual, of course. If we can't have paint, at least let us have some colour.
thebestnose: (confused- you had me fooled)
I'm your new warden, Jane Brunswick. We spoke once before, but not at any great length, so I'd like to change that.

Let's go for a walk.

[[OOC: And for anyone who is listening to the radiators, this week's book is Anne of Green Gables.]]
thebestnose: (upset-if you had an ounce of selfrespect)
There are reasons why we have our Rules. Because of people like you. Because of the things you did, we now have Rules about slouching and when to drink Ovaltine.

Thank you.

[After a long pause.]

Also, Danny Archer is no longer on the Barge. My item told me so.

[Private to Eddie R.]

Did your dad find anything he shouldn't have? ....Mine did.

[Private to George]

Dad was right. Calling you Yellow is an insult.

But thank you anyway. For being nice to him.
thebestnose: (young- confused)
[Teenage Jane has a moment of fumbling before she figures out this "remote viewer." She's shifted to where the only thing that can be seen behind her is the wall. She's not going to reveal all of the illegal, Leapbacked technology behind her.]

Um...I don't think this is the place I'm supposed to be.

I mean, I understand that some of us were taken or arrived but- [Yes, she's been paying attention. She's ignoring the Previous aspect because...that's just creepy. And it might just be a trick.] I don't know if this room is the right one. I've never been here before.

And I don't know what I'm supposed to do. What my job is. I'd really like to help anywhere that needs me. I can easily adapt to working anywhere.
